Brisbane coach Andrej Lemanis believes his side got caught up playing Illawarra’s style of basketball in their loss to the Hawks on New Year’s Eve.

Illawarra were far too good in a dominant 22-point victory which extended their run to seven straight NBL wins over Brisbane.
“There is something about this match up which hasn’t worked well for us,” Lemanis said.
“They scored 104 points again at 53% from the field.
“I think we get caught up in the way that they want to play. In the games we have played them this year, the style of play has suited their style more than our style of play.
“We need to do a better job of being smart, intelligent and to play the game on our terms.”
Brisbane haven’t won a single regular season game against the Hawks since returning to the national league. They will get one final chance this season when the pair meet again in Brisbane on Thursday, February 8.
