Operation Ouch!

Dr Chris and Dr Xand of ABC Me children's television series Operation Ouch! are coming back to Australia with a live show.

The twin doctors have been hard at work creating incredible medical stunts and crazy experiments to explain fascinating facts about biology and what the body can do.

Shellharbour Art Show

Four Illawarra artists (Julia Walsh, Judi Goodwin, Junko Schettino and Narelle Murphy Petriobelli) are holding an exhibition with 20% of profits being donated to Special Olympics Illawarra athletes with an intellectual disability.

“Art 4 Athletes” will run until January 15 at the Exhibition Space on Wentworth Street in Shellharbour Village.

The official opening is Saturday at 2pm with drinks and refreshments.

THURSDAY January 11

Honk! Oz Street Music Festival

As a prelude to the Illawarra Folk Festival, Honk! Oz Fest is three days of FREE music in Wollongong featuring acoustic, mobile and somewhat eccentric street bands.

Think Mardi Gras and Carnival. Blaring brass and drums. A parade. Outdoor jam sessions. New Orleans, Gypsy, Klezmer, funk, folk and jazz all fused together for a sensation for the ears and eyes.

Hercules: The Pantomime

Until January 13 the Roo Theatre in Shellharbour present Hercules: The Panto

A traditional pantomime featuring the hero, the villain, the dame, the pop hits you all know, the colourful costumes, and lots of interaction with the audience. 

A happy ending is ensured with Hercules winning his Princess, Medusa getting her hands on the King and the Gryphon gaining his wings.

Skate & Sounds

Young people aged 12 to 25 can head to the Shellhabour Skate Park for a BBQ and music.

It’s on from 2pm to 4pm thanks to Shellharbour Youth Services.

Paul Fenech - Smash It With A Thong

Pauly has basically lived on the road for the past 24 months, coming face to face with real life Aussies and this inspired him to write a new Aussie anthem.

He’s best known for TV’s Pizza, Swift and Shift Couriers, Housos and Bogan Hunters.

“It’s now hip to be bogan – it’s the new black, mate. Every Aussie has a pair of thongs. They are our version of the Manolo Blahnik. Pure style all the way.” Fenech says.

Super Slide Day

From 10am to 2pm Reddall Reserve at Lake Illawarra comes alive with FREE waterslide fun for the kids.

Sporting demonstrations will also be part of the fun, put on by Shellharbour City Council.

SUNDAY January 14

Free Jazz Concert

The Wollongong Conservatorium is putting on a free Sunday jazz series at the family friendly Town Hall Chamber in Wollongong.

This week it’s saxophonist and Order of Australia recipient Sandy Evans join the Conservatorium’s rhythm section.

Concerts are free and run from 2pm to 5pm on January 14, 21 and 28 at Town Hall Chamber, 63 Crown Street in Wollongong.

Diesel Day at Illawarra Light Railway Museum

Bring the whole family and have a day of fun riding on the miniature and diesel Trains at the Illawarra Light Railway Museum, Tongarra Road at Albion Park Rail.

Take the opportunity to go back in time and stroll through the historical Museum. Enjoy the great picnic area and children's play equipment for free.
