With just two teams from each pool progressing through to next Sunday’s semi-finals, and Helensburgh sitting atop Pool A, second-placed Balgownie’s clash with fourth-placed Northern Districts will play a key role in determining the pool’s finishing order.
Despite currently sitting in first place, Helensburgh can slip out of the finals altogether with a loss to third-placed Wollongong and a Balgownie win.
Corrimal, sitting winless in fifth, cannot qualify for the playoffs. However, they may play a key role in shaping the final order of Pool B. Corrimal plays Wests in the weekend’s lone crossover match. Wests sit in third place with one win from four matches and are a chance of qualifying if they win and University falls to Port Kembla.
However, to further complicate matters, Port can leapfrog both Wests and University should they record a comprehensive victory over the students.
Currently sitting in first place in Pool B, Dapto are safely through to next week’s semi-finals. However a loss to fifth-placed Keira could see them fall to second in the pool.
