The temperature could hit 40 degrees in parts of the Illawarra this weekend, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Temperatures for the region aren’t expected to get as high as some parts of Sydney, which have been forecast to hit mid-40 degrees on Sunday.
For the Illawarra district, the bureau says daytime temperatures will peak between 34 and 40 degrees.
Albion Park is forecast to reach 32 degrees on Saturday before a 36 degree, potentially stormy day on Sunday.
Coastal areas – like the Bellambi Point weather station – will be cooler, with a top of 29 degrees on Saturday and 33 on Sunday.
The warm weather will not abate next week, with Monday forecast to hit 30.
On Tuesday the temperatures will drop into the late 20s, but the humidity will remain.
Emergency Services have urged residents to monitor weather reports and health advice in the “heatwave conditions”. Police said older residents and those who live alone or are socially isolated were at higher risk of heat illness, and said everyone should aim to be well-hydrated, limit their physical activity and stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day.
Lifesavers have warned people of the risks of swimming at the beach, with a reminder to swim between the flags at patrolled beaches.
“Lifesavers and lifeguards are out in force but we need the public to take some responsibility for their own safety, and sadly the tragic incidents we have witnessed through December and early January are a tragic reminder of the power of the ocean,” Surf Life Saving NSW CEO, Steven Pearce said.
