Emergency services were called to the Reddall Parade block around 4.30pm and found a male bleeding from the nose and ears once on scene.
Lake Illawarra Duty Officer Acting Inspector Paul Brodie alleged a 40-year-old man armed with the bat was feuding with a 31-year-old man in the common area of the complex.
He said the man with the bat was treated for lacerations to his face and taken to Wollongong Hospital for further treatment.
The younger man was arrested and interviewed, though released pending further enquiries.
