Illawarra have a squad of 10 to take on Zones 5, 10, 12 and 13 in Pairs, Triples and Fours.
Corrimal’s Jarrod Beckford will partner reigning Illawarra Singles champion Harley McDonald in the Pairs, with Warilla’s Jayden Gebbie to skip the Triples and partnered by Tim Love (Warilla) and Corey Thompson (Albion Park).
Albion Park’s Jesse Godfrey comes into the team to replace South Pacific Singles champion Dylan Skinner and will play lead in the Fours.
Tom Hull (Wiseman Park), Danyon Christie (Fairy Meadow) and skip Jordan Taylor (Wiseman Park) also form the Fours rink. Warilla’s Adam Daley is the new reserve.
Illawarra Zone 16 are unbeaten in the annual Quad Series, but Zone 10 in particular have named a strong team, which will include Corey Wedlock and Jono Davis.
Illawarra selectors use the annual Quad Series to develop talent at under 25 level and an opportunity to press their claims for the Zone 16 Open team.
Meanwhile, the Zone 16 development squad will play an Illawarra over 60s team at Dapto Citizens BC on Friday February 9.
The playing line-ups will be released on Friday, with the trial looming as an important match for the over 60s in particular, with players looking to claim a spot for representative matches throughout 2018.
The addition of a Zone 16 Development Squad over the past couple of years has been a positive and gives bowlers on the fringe of making the Open squad a chance to impress at representative level.
