SMDCC was the first to treat patients with a drug developed at the University of Wollongong, still in development phase.
The SMDCC building in Crown Street, Wollongong is a purpose-built facility which incorporates offices and a day-care treatment centre with four treatment chairs and four private rooms.
SMDCC has its own Oncology Pharmacy where the drugs are compounded daily.
With care and understanding the clinical nurse specialists and on-site Pharmacist offer expertise in cancer related side effects and help patients manage and maintain quality of life throughout their treatment.
The centre is also certified with Quality Assurance Services (QAS) using National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).
SMDCC treats all types of cancer and have expertise and knowledge to help patients and families through their treatment.
The centre has highly qualified oncology specialist nursing staff who provide a personalised service to patients and their families.
“We offer comprehensive chemotherapy treatments to oncology patients and various other infusional therapies in our private hospital setting,” Professor Clingan said.
