Defending 231, the Cougars bowled Northern Districts out for 162 late in the day’s play to claim the victory.
A pivotal Xavier McDevitt (4/47) wicket swung the game in Corrimal’s favour, with the spinner removing Jamie Stephens for 69 and breaking a 119-run fourth-wicket partnership.
“I’m extremely pleased,” Yeaman said. “The boys fought really well, bowled good tight lines and maintained pressure throughout the day.
“We’re hoping to push on towards the finals. We’re trying to build within the club, trying to start and get the boys thinking that it doesn’t matter who we play, we can be competitive.
“We saw against Keira, we got ourselves bogged down and almost came away with the win. We are able to compete with the top teams.”
In Saturday’s other matches, an unbeaten Adam Berwick century led Balgownie to a crucial victory over Keira.
Berwick (150 not out) combined with fellow opener Joshua Hill (105) to record a 182 run opening stand and lay the platform for a dominant victory over the competition leaders.
After bowling Wollongong out for 106 a week ago, Dapto resumed play at 2/55 hunting for quick runs. The Canaries quickly secured first innings points, but lost 6/22 soon after, ending any chance of an outright victory.
University also wobbled in their run chase, with Helensburgh successfully defending 237. Captain Mitch Hearn continued his hot form with 57 not out, however it wasn’t enough, with University bowled out for 151.
Saturday also saw Port Kembla claim an outright victory over Wests, with Ellis Dale and Daniel Lee combining for nine wickets as the Devils were bowled out for 124 in their second innings.
