Illawarra finished fourth last season but knocked minor premiers Adelaide out of the NBL championship race in a thrilling final series in 2016-17.
Less than 12 months on, the 36ers delivered a pair of stunning displays against Rob Beveridge’s team. They demolished Illawarra by 22 points on Friday before scoring a 112-93 win on Sunday.
It all but ended Illawarra’s final chances for 2017-18, but Wright is adamant it wasn’t motivated by revenge.
“I am always amazed when people think we might be angry at a team for beating us. That’s what they are supposed to do,” he said.
“If they weren’t trying to beat us, none of us would be here so I am never angry or upset about an opposition team or coach beating us. They did what they are supposed to do and we move on.”
