The mother of one of the victims has spoken out about the attack, concerned about the welfare of girls who were targeted, aged 13-14.
Bullies took screenshots of girls and published the pictures accompanied with nasty words about their appearance, or coupled with degrading, sexual remarks.
“I think I have raised pretty resilient kids and it didn’t worry my daughter too much,” North Nowra mum Jenny Baron said.
“But knowing these other girls have been bullied previously, it’s just horrible.
“One of the girls was on suicide watch last year.
“Another girl has been copping a heap of bullying, she wanted to be home-schooled.”
Appalled by the account, soon after Dolly Everett’s suicide due to cyber bullying, Jenny reported it to police last week.
However, they were powerless to act, unless the perpetrators had committed an indictable offence.
“Who is there to step in and find the person responsible before some poor struggling soul can’t take it any longer?” Jenny said.
“There’s Lifeline and other agencies but who’s there to educate the perpetrators?”
“These people who make these bogus accounts hiding behind their screens where the world can’t see them, doing and saying whatever they want and not being held accountable are pathetic.”
The account that claimed to be “exposing bitches that deserve it” has been removed since the incident was reported to parents of the victims, Instagram and Nowra local police.
