The 31-year-old woman allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading four times the legal limit about 6.15pm on Sunday.
Witnesses contacted police on Sunday evening after a Holden Captiva was reportedly driving dangerously along the Princes Highway.
The vehicle left the road, resulting in a tyre deflating, police said. Upon entering the Kiama Bends the vehicle struck the centre barrier, almost causing it to roll.
The car continued for another 500 metres before the vehicle broke down and stopped.
Numerous members of the public stopped and removed the 31-year-old driver from the vehicle and secured her car keys.
A four-year-old girl in the vehicle was found to be uninjured.
Police were called and the woman was breath tested, returning a positive result.
She was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where she underwent a breath analysis, allegedly returning a reading of .200.
She was charged with high range PCA, drive in manner dangerous to the public, and negligent driving.
She was granted conditional bail to appear at Kiama Local Court in March. Her licence was suspended.
Police reported the matter to Family and Community Services.
