She could be the circuit breaker this nation’s white and black communities need to completely nullify the vile attempts of the loony left to destroy any possible chance of a meaningful reconciliation. She is intelligent, strong, and realistic. She identifies and fixes on the real priorities.
She is a gutsy woman and I hope she receives the support and following she deserves so she can a become real force in the ongoing drive to achieve the healing needed between Australia’s First People and the rest of the nation.

GIVING THANKS
My partner is a police officer and worked Australia Day at Parramatta Park in Parramatta.
Lots of people in the crowd wanted to take photo’s with the police and some said “thanks for protecting us”. I know firsthand what it’s like to live with someone that has such a challenging and sometimes thankless job.
He has nearly 30 years of dedication to the police force. It’s great to hear some appreciation for the amazing hard work police officers do.

DON’T CHANGE DATE
In response to the letter by Timothy Hammond (‘A Non Offensive Date’, Illawarra Mercury, Thursday, January 25, 2018), truth and history is not dependent on dates and times being fluid.
For example declaring a weekend for the Queen's birthday does not take away from the significance of the actual day. In the lead up to Australia Day (January 26) socialist groups and those who genuflect too "political correctness" have been campaigning that this date is offensive, and represents "invasion day" to the Indigenous people of this country. Really?
According to the Museum of Democracy, Governor Arthur Phillip was given clear instructions from King George III before setting off with what became the First Fleet. The instructions included how to manage convicts and how to explore, grant, and cultivate the land.
Further, the instructions also addressed the issue of how "friendly relations" should be established with the Australian Aborigines and that their lives and livelihoods should be protected. In September 1790, in Manly Cove, Phillip was near fatally speared in the shoulder while attempting to communicate with a group of indigenous Australians.
When others called for retribution, Phillip called for understanding. So, Governor Phillip continued to uphold the King's instructions almost two years after landing in Botany Bay.
The first Fleet landing on the 26th January 1788 was not an invasion and should not be changed to suit the fashionable "politically correct" activists who constantly search for a reason to be outraged.

NO NEED FOR PARK
As Ben Morris writes we already have senior’s park along Cliff Road where senior’s exercise. And an important feature of that park is the relationship seniors enjoy with the community. Let the cars inhabit the proposed ‘senior’s park’ and leave us enjoy the existing one.

COFFERS ARE BARE
Time Shellharbour City Council changed the dyna bolts on the supposedly temporary fence along the boardwalk on the boat ramps at ski club. The foreshore is designed to attract tourists.
They've spent all the monies on the palace and the coffers are bare. Shame , Shame ,Shame.
