Trouble is the people they are booking are people spending money in local businesses, supporting local shops.
Wollongong shoppers will avoid these businesses if this draconian penny pinching continues.
As to fines set by NSW Government they don’t have to be to the extreme here, but are only guidelines. Shame, Shame Shame

WHEN PIGS FLY?
Listening to “experts” on ABC TV talking about “trickle-down benefits” associated with the Turnbull/Morrison proposal to gift $76 billion of taxpayer monies to trans and multi-national companies. I found myself believing perhaps life forms does exist on other planets.
These two expensively-attired commentators, a female and a male, could only just have arrived upon planet Earth, for they had absolutely no understanding of real life.
They spoke enthusiastically about how the billions of dollars given to “big business” will result in the generation of growth and jobs.
Their patter mimicked that of Turnbull and Morrison. So quite possibly, the Turnbull and Morrison manifesto was the in-flight movie of the space craft they arrived in?
They believed that when, say Gina Rinehart for example, gets her share of the billions, she will automatically share it with her workforce. This generosity on her part will stimulate competition for jobs with Gina.
She will then have to pay her workers more “trickle down money” to keep them. Economics 1.1. Supply and demand kicks in.
Now if you believe Gina or ANZ, NAB, BHP, Rio Tinto or Amcor will be so altruistic, can I interest you in buying the Sydney Harbour Bridge cheap?

TAKING SHELTER?
Having a mag the other day, and being an ex-chalkie a mate asked me what are they doing with the education department buildings on Crown st West Wollongong?
We concluded this would be perfect as a homeless shelter as it was large and could house a huge amount of people seeing as there are so many homeless in the Wollongong area.
This building has many rooms and an old canteen that could be utilised for meals and it has toilets and shower blocks plus rooms that could be used as tutorial rooms to have classes on dole management or job preparation. Plus these people could do repairs and maintenance under supervision by trained staff and many other worthwhile things.
The people that enter this facility could use their dole as payment (not entire amount) and this would be some recompense covering food and accommodation and they could be expected to do cleaning and washing as part of their inclusion and general upkeep of the premises.

DRIVERS ‘NOT FINE’ AFTER HUNDREDS CAUGHT IN PARKING BLITZ
Anyone who thinks this is not a revenue raising stunt is absolutely bonkers. I live close to a school where students and their parents illegally park daily, often over residents driveways.
I’ve lost times of the amount of time I’ve called council regarding cars parked illegally on corners blocking vision, cars parked over my driveway and rangers rarely bother even attending.
They choose instead to sit in a car park where families are taking children in school holidays to movies or lunch and issues as many fines as they can in a short period of time. And the rangers were sitting in that car park for as good portion of time waiting to issue fines.
