DEFENDING THE INDEFENSIBLE
It was quite interesting to read the letter from Adrian Devlin (Illawarra Mercury, February 3, 2018).

He wrongly figures that taking aim at Barry Swan, myself, and others, is quite a good way to kick off the new year.
Andrew Constance is by far the worst Transport Minister we have ever had.
Mr Devlin is well known for his support of the Liberal Party and all he mistakenly thinks it stands for.
He is also legendary for his lack of support for those Australians living in the mire of homelessness, poverty, unemployment, mortgage stress, and exploitation.
However wrong he continually is, Mr Devlin can write all he wants against me and my opinion of the way I see things in the real world.
I live by the words of the late Winston Churchill.
Never get in the way of your enemy when he is making mistakes.

HEARING THE JUNGLE DRUMS
Everybody is probably thinking that Bernie Tomic tanked it again so as he can get back home to count his dollars.
My take is that he was payed a few extra bucks to bail out.
I think the producers of the show already had it planed to get Danny Green to appear hoping to get a big reaction from "the greatest athlete of all time", his words not mine, Anthony Mundine.

NO COMPARISON TO GOUGH
The more easily influenced citizens of the “Land of Oz” after watching Malcolm Turnbull interviewed on the ABC’s Sunday morning program Insiders have probably commenced converting any “bricks and mortar” assets they may have into cash or bullion and hidden it under their bed.
Apparently, PM Turnbull has noticed something about Bill Shorten we, the common people have missed and, should according to Malcolm, be very concerned about.
According to Malcolm, Bill Shorten is the most Socialist of ALP leaders since Gough Whitlam.
Talk about hyperbole on steroids.
Being comparable to Gough Whitlam is something none of the chorus line of ALP leaders including Bill Shorten ever achieved.
Even if such a thing as “ultra- extreme lateral thinking” existed, I sincerely doubt even it could come up with the comparison between Whitlam and Shorten as suggested by Turnbull.
Apart from both Whitlam and Shorten having been for a time, leaders of the ALP, vast differences are obvious.
Gough Whitlam possessed the intelligence, foresight and the drive to achieve a better future for all Australians and refused to be a toady for Washington.
Unfortunately for our nation no other Australian prime minister, or opposition leader since, has demonstrated a comparable record.

WEB WORDS EXTRA
WOLLONGONG PUBLIC SCHOOL TRAFFIC IS ‘GRIDLOCK’
The problem in the past in my area is s that parents particularly from Mt Keira cotton wrap their kids and personally chauffeur them to the gates of the school (TIGS) creating a backlog sometimes all the way to Ghosts Creek Bridge because the right turn lane on Powell Street is too small.
This is not helped by a speed camera that mandates ridiculously slow road limits and perpertuates the same cotton wrapped kids mentality as some parents try to turn into TIGSs associated driveway southbound as well
I personally recommend realigning Powell Street so that it meets Mt Keira road thus creating a proper intersection and moving the St Therese church elsewhere.
