Located at 253 Cordeaux Road, Mount Kembla, the four-bedroom home with study and generous flat also contains three bathrooms. 

The home has a price guide of $890,000 to $950,000, and will be auctioned on Wednesday, February 21.

Selling agent, Trever Molenaar from Molenaar and McNeice said it was an “immaculately presented” family home, and the separately metered properties would be ideal for extra income.

“It’s a massive home – it’s huge,” he said.

“Another thing is you’ve got a totally self-contained flat under the same roof-line, which means you can separately lease it because it has its own separate front door and the like, or you can incorporate that into the house.

“It’s the only registered residential dual occupancy there; apart from the pub, it’s the only one in Mount Kembla that’s been able to be done.

“It’s bang for the buck. For that price, if you compare it to surrounding suburbs and similar homes, you get a lot of house for your money. And it’s immaculate, there’s nothing you need to do.

“Mount Kembla is still kind of a hidden gem. People don’t really know it’s there. They think of Figtree, Cordeaux Heights and places like that, but they don’t always think of Mount Kembla.

“It’s a little village. It’s probably very similar, on a smaller scale, to what Balgownie is as far as villages go.”

According to The Domain Group figures for four-bedroom houses, there have been a total of four sold in Mount Kembla this year. 

The average age of residents there is 40 to 59.

The Domain figures indicate that 46 per cent fully own their own home, 39 per cent have a mortgage and 15 per cent are renting. 

Regional outlook

The Illawarra’s outlook for 2018 will be discussed at an upcoming Property Council of Australia event. 

The Property Council’s ‘Outlook Series ‘18’ aims to provide an update on the critical issues facing the property sector and more. 

The Illawarra event is on March 2 from 12pm to 2pm at City Beach Function Centre. Speakers include Brian Haratsis, founder and executive chairman of MacroPlan Dimasi; Kiama MP Gareth Ward; Paul Scully, Member for Wollongong; and Sharon Bird, Federal Member for Cunningham. 

It will feature a panel discussion with the attending politicians looking at the issues and forecasts for the region, and the outlook for the year ahead.
