Miles has joined Dapto Citizens as their new bowls coordinator but enjoyed the perfect farewell with the representative pairing beating Joel Mulholland (subbing for Toby Peters) and Shane Leonard 27-11 in the final.
Noronha won the Zone 16 Triples as a teenager but now he and Miles will chase a state title and represent Warilla and Illawarra at the State Champs in October.
The champions won five matches, surviving a huge scare with a 24-23 last-end win over Towradgi’s Anthony Jones and Pete Bonsor in round three.
They also had a tough 22-18 win over Dapto Citizens’ Terry Seton and Trevor Suckley in their quarter-final, before ending the strong run of Figgy Bowlo’s John Chetcuti and Pedro Torres 24-10. After a round one bye, Peters and Leonard beat Corrimal’s Kevin Ireland and Jarrod Beckford 21-8 and posted a 19-11 win over Kiama’s Gavin and Dean Aitken.
The young Warilla pair beat Towradgi’s Robert Slater and Shane Gill 25-12, before Mulholland took Peters place for the semi, with Mulholland-Leonard posting a 22-19 win over Thirroul’s Carl Morgan and Shane Jones.
