Within the same 12 months, using solar to harness the sun's energy has become more affordable.
These two components (high power prices and affordable solar) alongside the government STC (Small-scale Technology Certificates), are making sure solar energy is affordable for everyone. It’s the ‘perfect storm’ for solar.
As a business, the federal government allows you to deduct 30 per cent of your solar power system costs off your federal taxes through an investment tax credit (ITC).
If you do not expect to owe taxes this year, you can roll over your federal solar tax credit for the following year.

Dave Love, managing director of SunPeople, explains how STCs can benefit you.
“STCs often referred to as ‘government rebates’ will generally cover one third of the cost of your solar installation,” he said. “And of course, STCs can be utilised to upgrade your system, as you may now require more power since your initial install but don’t worry as the ‘rebates’ will still apply.”
“To qualify for the STC ‘rebate’, your system must be designed and installed by a Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited tradesperson.”
SunPeople’s CEC accredited designers and installers work together to offer a complete solar solution.
“A high-performing solar system needs more than just quality products but also an understanding of how the sun and shade affect the installation, as this can is very important,” Dave said.
“SunPeople conduct on-site inspections to assess the best location for your system, maximising performance over the long term.”
It's time to join thousands of Australians who are now enjoying the benefits of solar power that can help power your home or business whilst reducing your carbon footprint.
“SunPeople recently installed a 5kW solar system in Figtree that is estimated to save 114 tons of C02 savings over the lifetime of the system,” co-director Doug Easther of SunPeople said. “This is equivalent to taking 24 cars off the road for a year!”

STC explained to energy users
STCs form a part of the Renewable Energy Target, a Federal Government policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate that can reduce the cost of your solar system by up to a third.
Most people receive this discount when solar is installed, by transferring the STCs to their solar installer – anyone buying a solar system of up to 100kW can benefit from the STC discount.
When purchasing a renewable energy system, you’ll generate one STC for every megawatt-hour of energy your system is expected to produce until 2031. The STC price is a bit like a share price - it fluctuates on the open market depending on supply and demand.
Don’t confuse this “incentive” with the Feed In Tariff, a state government subsidy in which some states pay you for the electricity that your system will export to the grid.
