President of the Kiama Jazz Club Becky Guggisberg said there were some new additions for the 31st festival while she wanted to stress the inclusiveness of the event.
“The thing we really want to highlight is you don’t have to know any of the musicians, just come and have fun in this most beautiful setting,” Ms Guggisberg said.
Concerts during the day, she said, were perfect for the family while evenings would suit a date night.
Each year a different local artist will now be commissioned to create logos and posters for the event, Mikey Freedom accepting this year’s honour. His work will also be on exhibition during the three-day festival.
Other additions to the event include a vinyl record fair and a harmonica workshop (the only ticketed event) with Deak Harp from the Mississippi.
A mix of international and Australia artists will entertain for free with performances in flamenco, funk, swing, roots, Chicago blues, reggae and gypsy in the street, in cafe’s, on stages and clubs.
Some of this year’s big names include Wards Xpress, Mucho Mambo, Lloyd Spiegel, Collard Greens and Gravy, Mitch Granger, Phat Brass and El Grande.
