The Property Council’s Outlook Series ‘18 aims to provide an update on the critical issues facing the property sector, and deliver the information and insights needed to successfully manage and grow a business throughout 2018.
The Illawarra event will take place on March 2 from 12pm to 2pm at City Beach Function Centre.
Speakers include Brian Haratsis, founder and executive chairman of MacroPlan Dimasi; Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast Gareth Ward; Paul Scully, Member for Wollongong; and Sharon Bird, Federal Member for Cunningham.
Property Council Illawarra deputy chair Jennifer Macquarie said the Outlook series was the premier group of events that the Property Council hosts each year, and was one of the Illawarra branch’s major events.
“They hold one for the industrial and all the different segments of the market, and there are two that are held specific to geographic markets, the Illawarra and the Hunter,” she said.
“The key speaker is Brian Haratsis, a very well-regarded economist who is going to give us the big picture of the economy nationally and globally, then bring it down to the state level and look at how that impacts on us locally because all of those things are inter-related.
“Then it’ll focus on local issues; how perhaps we as a region can remain competitive or be more competitive.
“The key issues around not just the property sector, but the economy generally within the region because they are inter-related.
“But it will have a focus particularly on the property sector.”
Mr Haratsis will be joined for a panel discussion by the attending MPs to examine the issues and forecasts for the region, and the outlook for the year ahead.
“We’ve got a mix of our local MPs from both sides of the political spectrum,” Ms Macquarie said.
“There’s also an opportunity for people to ask questions from the floor… It should be quite a spirited discussion.
“You don’t get an opportunity like this very often to ask direct questions of that kind of panel, so it would be great if people can pull a few burning questions out.”
There are still tickets available for the event.
