Mucho Mambo reinvent mambo with a unique funky edge and the orchestra’s dynamic sound and original look is a reminder of the golden era of Latin and jazz genres.

Headed up by Martin ‘El Martillo’ Taylor, Mucho Mambo is made up of some of Australia’s best jazz musicians.

Taylor said the band draws its musical inspiration from the Cuban big bands of the 1950s and 60s as well as more modern groups such as Cubanismo and The Afro Cuban All Stars. 

“The audience can expect an entertaining show both musically and visually…...and plenty of dancing,” Taylor said. 

“It is the first time the band has played at the festival, however many of us have performed there with various groups over the years. I played down there with Sandunga in the 90s.

“We love the energy and enthusiasm of festival audiences and involving them in our performance.”

Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival coordinator Daniel Sullivan, described Mucho Mambo as “an explosive Latino big band”.

"Mucho Mambo pump out mambo, big band salsa and cha cha cha,” he said. 

“They offer an amazing visual and musical experience, playing at the highest level in Australian jazz.”

Mucho Mambo will be playing at the Kiama Leagues Club Auditorium on Saturday, March 10 from 8.30pm to 11pm. 

Visitors can experience free jazz and blues from 90 acts across 40 Kiama venues from March 9 – 11.

The exciting line up for the 2018 festival features a long list of international and interstate performers, including Deak Harp (Mississippi USA), Lloyd Spiegel (Vic), Collard Greens and Gravy (Vic), Andy Firth, Kevin Hunt, Andrew Oh, Greg Dodd and the Hoodoo Men (Vic), Miss Whiskey (Vic), Dane Laboyrie, Shane Pacey, Wards Xpress, Mimosa Duo and Alison Penney and the Money Makers.
