The Kerryn McCann Athletics Centre has hosted a successful Little Athletics Region Championships, with multiple Illawarra juniors progressing through to March’s State Championships.

Over 700 athletes from the south coast and Riverina competed at the competition, with the top two athletes in each event automatically progressing through to the State Championships.
Standout performances included Wollongong’s Jack McClutchie winning the under 12 boys 800 metre and 1500m distance events and Albion Park’s Isaac Shaw claiming the under 14 boys 1500m and 3000m double.
Wollongong’s Amelia Poulos and Chelsy Wayne finished first and second in the under 10 girls 100m sprint and Chelsea Ezeoke won four gold medals, setting new records in the 100m and 200m events.
