More than 1000 registrations of interest were received for the first apartments in the Frasers Property Australia and Shellharbour City Council master-planned community.
With prices starting from $565,000 for a one-bedroom Aqua apartment through to $1.495 million for the top-priced three-bedroom options, more than $41 million in total sales were recorded on the day.
The Aqua release will comprise three levels of apartments in one, two and three-bedroom configurations above the restaurant precinct at The Waterfront.
Designed by architects HDR, the Aqua apartments are expected to be completed in 2019.
By then, the first stage of the neighbourhood shopping centre is expected to be open, with a Woolworths supermarket and nine specialty shops.
The waterfront restaurant precinct with about six eateries in stage two will follow shortly after, and a waterfront tavern, community centre, library and hotel will complete stage three of the community amenity.
“From the moment we unveiled the Aqua apartments, inquiries began flooding in,” Glenn Colquhoun, development director – Shell Cove, Frasers Property Australia said.
“The way Aqua integrates with the marina and coastline to activate The Waterfront precinct has clearly struck a chord with people.”
The next release of apartments is planned for later this year.
They will be located on the waterfront, a short distance from the Aqua release.
Also, with Woolworths and BWS already confirmed, Frasers has put out a call for retailers to join the mix at The Waterfront.
Stage one of the Shell Cove town centre is expected to open in the last quarter of 2018.
It will comprise a 4450sqm neighbourhood retail precinct, anchored by a 3577sqm full-line Woolworths supermarket and with the nine specialty shops.
Meanwhile, Shell Cove developers will not back down from a plan to increase height limits and add an extra 318 homes within the boat harbour, despite hundreds of objections from residents.
Earlier this month, Frasers and council revealed their response to submissions about changes to the approved 2011 concept plan.
The concept plan modification proposal was placed on exhibition last September.
Of particular concern to residents was an increase to height limit of the hotel building from nine-storeys to 11-storeys high, and the rasing of many apartment buildings from four to six storeys.
