The school partnered with the A-League club in November, joining Narrabeen Sports High School, Bossley Park High School and Endeavour Sports High School as official Sydney FC schools. The partnership provides students with access to Sydney FC’s development pathways and experienced coaches.
Sydney FC has selected an Academy side to contest the prestigious One Nation Cup in Shonan, Japan, with players coming from the four Sydney FC schools.
The boys selected for the tour, Tony Krstevski, Jayden Bojlevski, Thomas Cleverly, Flynn Madden and Liam Hoyne, will fly out to Japan in May, where they will play against teams from around the world. Travis Furlong was selected as a shadow squad member.
The One Nation Cup strives to bring under 15 players from around the world together to experience their different cultures. It is a biannual competition that alternates between Japan, South Africa and Germany.
The selections come as Illawarra Sports High expands its Talented Football Program, which aims to expose students to a high-quality learning environment and develop their skills both on and off the field.
An open night will be held at the school at 6pm on Monday night, with representatives from Sydney FC to deliver a presentation. To register your interest, contact Amy Child at amy.child2@det.nsw.edu.au.
