The 27-year-old finished the season the NBL’s joint-leader in scoring with 19.7 points per game while he also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists across 27 games.

It also saw him voted the fans’ choice player of the year and leaves him the odds-on favourite to become the Hawks’ fourth NBL MVP in eight seasons next week. 

Betting markets currently have the Brooklyn native a $2 favourite from Perth pair Bryce Cotton ($2.80) and J.P. Tokoto ($8) but he said he hasn’t been obsessing over his prospects.

“I feel like I went out there and played to [the best of] my ability,” Conger said.

“I felt like I went out and gave it 100 per cent all the time. Whatever happens happens but I feel pretty good about [the season].

“We didn’t get the outcome we wanted, we had a few hiccups a long the way but I feel we finished on a high note. 

“The results were the results, someone’s got to win, someone’s got to lose but we went out there and competed. I thought overall it was a good season.”

The end-of-season gongs will lengthen the odds of the club retaining his services with the St Bonaventure alum to have no shortage of options in the US and Europe.

“I’ve definitely enjoyed myself, especially playing for Bevo,” Conger said.

“It’s like any other season, you go home and weigh up your options but I definitely enjoyed it.”
