This year he has dropped the boyish image, and his first name, with a “contemplative and earnest” man in his place. The now 23-year-old is touring with a new classic rock sound and is set for the stage at Waves in Towradgi on April 21.
“Giving a 16 year-old-kid the opportunity to travel the country and play to thousands of screaming fans is obviously a dream come true. But, as I learnt, it’s not the reality of this industry. I was kept at an arms length from all decisions made in my career,” the singer-songwriter said.
“With learning more about myself and what I want to offer musically on the learning curve of the past few years, it has completely changed my approach to how I want to run my show. I want to create something that will leave my fans in awe,” the singer-songwriter said.
His new single Not The Man For You, reflects the sounds of Queen, Guns’n’Roses, Free and a hint of Shannon Noll. A new EP Suitcase of Stories is to follow in its wake and slated for release on April 6.
“I felt utterly exhausted by it all…which has made where I am now all that much sweeter. I’ve worked my ass off getting back up. Now I love having the confidence that I know exactly how to run my business,” Mastin said.
“I’m getting to be really comfortable with the man I have become.”
