Robina Beard recently sold the home at 79 Midgley Street, Corrimal.
The three-bedroom home had a price guide of $790,000, but sold to an Illawarra buyer for $860,000 prior to auction.
The charismatic grandmother has graced the stage and small screen for decades, and is remembered by many for her long-running role as ‘Madge the manicurist’ on a Palmolive liquid detergent advertisement.
Ms Beard was star of the television commercial between 1968 and 1988.
Her career in the arts spans theatre, dance, music theatre and television, and she is still acting and teaching.
In recent times she has run exercise and tap-dancing classes for seniors.
After 16 years living in the Illawarra the actor said she didn’t plan to stay in the Illawarra, and would most likely relocate to Sydney.
”My husband Clive died a year-and-a-half ago and I can’t live there myself as it’s too big,” she said of the property. “It needs a family to live there.
“And both my children live in Sydney, so I want to be closer to them and my grandchildren.
“(The Illawarra) is a wonderful place… I was able to continue with my work, have a lovely house and a great view.”
