Wollongong Central is behind the fitness festival which runs from April 5 to 15 and includes a lunch-time challenge for CBD workers, free fitness classes with gurus like Tom Baker (Sally Fitzgibbons’ fitness coach), yoga, seminars and superhero fitness sessions for the kids.
“It’s perfect for people of all fitness levels and the emphasis is on having fun in a non-judgemental environment. Whether you participate or are happy just to watch, it’s a good way of bringing the community together,” centre spokeswoman Holly Howell said.
The top end of the Crown Street Mall will be transformed during the 10 days with health focused pop-up stalls and the Commonwealth Games televised for free.
“It used to be that we’d recommend you move three times a week, 30 minutes at a time. Now we’re moving into that ‘move every day’ and be aware and be mindful of your movements and make it happen every day,” Savvy Fitness Founder Angela Saville said.
Savvy will be responsible for the lunch-time corporate sessions which also will raise funds for headspace, the national youth mental health foundation.
