The match hung in the balance at it’s midway point, with Kookas 5-93 at stumps on day one, having bowled The Rail out for 216. 

Defending a low score, the Razorbacks toiled hard in Sunday’s sweltering heat, claiming the final four wickets for 40 runs to bowl Kookas out for 205 and pick up the 11-run victory. Pushpinder Singh finished with 4-59.

The Rail captain Brett Gilly was pleased with the way his side persisted throughout the entire day.

“It was a game where the momentum shifted a lot,” Gilly said. “One of those games we didn’t know who was going to win, they were on top, then they lost couple of wickets and we were back on top. We lost one to them like that last year, it was good to get one back.”

“We showed good character in the hot conditions. We knew 216 wasn’t enough, but it had to be, and we bowled well to ensure it was.”
