Mayor Mark Honey said Mr McMurray, the director of corporate, commercial and community services, was selected from a large and competitive group of well-qualified candidates.
“I congratulate Kerry on his selection and look forward to working with him,” Cr Honey said.
“I also want to thank the other candidates who sought selection.”
Cr Honey said Mr McMurray has a strong record as director of corporate, commercial and community services.
“While at Kiama council he had been responsible for a broad range of services, including financial and administrative services, council’s Leisure Centre, holiday parks and tourism,” Cr Honey said.
“He has shown sound financial management and process improvement to ensure council services are efficiently and effectively delivered.
“Kerry has also had leading roles at a number of councils, including Murrumbidgee, Queanbeyan, Yass and Singleton.”
Mr Forsyth also congratulated Mr McMurray on his selection.
“Kerry has been an important part of our executive during what has been a very challenging time for the municipality.
“I know after 17 years as general manager, I am leaving the job in very good hands.”
