Emergency services are on the scene of the accident, which happened on Lake Entrance Road – near Leawarra Avenue – about 8.40pm.
Initial reports suggest the rider, a man believed to be aged 25, was thrown from his motorcycle on impact.
The man is being treated by paramedics at the scene for multiple injuries to his lower limbs, as well as a head injury.
It’s expected the man will be taken by road to the NSW Ambulance rescue helicopter base at the Illawarra Regional Airport, where he will be flown to a Sydney hospital.
A NSW police spokeswoman said the driver of the car stopped and was speaking with investigators. They weren’t injured, she said.
The crash has closed all westbound lanes of Lake Entrance Road, with local diversions in place.
Eastbound traffic is also affected, with two of three lanes closed in that direction.
Motorists have been told to expect delays.
