Gordon was voted the best from dozens who performed during the annual street music festival which ran across the weekend.
“The top three prizes were awarded by judges based on the Sunday performance in the park,” he said.
“[My Sunday performance] was a short set of around eight minutes so I snuck in two songs – a cover of You're The One That I Want and an original called Old River.
The $3000 in prize money will be used to further promote his music and will be especially handy ahead of his gig with Hat Fitz and Cara at the Heritage Hotel in Bulli on April 27.
“I'll probably split it between promotional material and a new recording or two,” Gordon told the Mercury.
It’s been a big 12 months for the musician who has gone from playing his first gig to entertaining crowds at the Illawarra Folk Festival, then even bigger crowds at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
