The man was riding a motorcycle west on Lake Entrance Road, Warilla, when it collided with a Honda Odyssey Wagon that was travelling east about 8.35pm.

The rider of the motorcycle suffered critical injuries to his lower limbs and head and was airlifted to St George Hospital, police said.

He was placed on life support, but later died.

The 44-year-old driver of the car was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory tests; she was not injured.

Lake Illawarra police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
