Six people have been arrested after 100 police officers raided at least seven Illawarra properties in a large-scale drug investigation on Thursday morning.
Police raided a number of homes, executing search warrants in Primbee, Flinders, Unanderra, Port Kembla and Lake Illawarra just after 8am.
So far, the Illawarra-based investigation has resulted in the seizure of more than 100kg of cannabis, 168g of methylamphetamine, 75g of MDMA and 83g of cocaine.
Firearms and cash were also seized in the raids
Police arrested six men, aged between 23 and 53, and they were taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
Lake Illawarra’s Acting Superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis said police will allege those arrested include high-level drug suppliers to drug mules.
"We'll allege [those arrested] have been involved in large-scale drug supply,” Acting Superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis said.
“We have seen the devastating impact drugs have had across the state and it has strengthened our resolve in removing this scourge in our communities,” he said.
“To all those who might be involved in the distribution of prohibited drugs, it’s only a matter of time before we catch up with you.”
Across the state, 11 people have been arrested in the coordinated investigation.
