NSW TrainLink said there were 95 instances where trespassers on the South Coast line were reported to police in 2016-17.
“NSW TrainLink’s regional customer support centre based in Wollongong actively monitors and reports on locations where there are higher levels of trespass, including level crossings or scenic vantage points,” a NSW TrainLink spokeswoman said.
“We are concerned about trespassing because of the potential impacts on members of the community and our staff who witness these incidents.”
The spokeswoman said, once a trespasser was spotted, trains operated at lower speeds until it was confirmed the line was clear., causing delays for rail commuters.
