Gabrielle and Andrew Micallef had fallen for each other before they even met. Introduced on an online dating site, they got to know each other through an exchange of long, meandering emails. She was a psychologist in Wollongong, he a materials engineer in Hastings, Victoria. By the time they arranged their first date, a stroll along North Beach not far from Gabrielle's home, it was almost a foregone conclusion that they'd be together.
