Desperate Warilla chasing first win

CRICKET

The South Coast cricket competition returns from the bye today with premiers Warilla Sports without a win heading into round four and desperate to get off the bottom of the table.

Warilla have had two losses and a rained-out draw in the opening three rounds and are a long way off the team that won the two-day premiership and made the one-day final last season.

The Kookaburras take on the improving Gerringong-Jamberoo at Oakleigh Park, with the Jets having won one of their opening three games to be in equal third spot with Albion Park.

Gerringong/Jamberoo paceman Scott Adams is one of the competition's form bowlers while skipper David Reid will be a key wicket for the Warilla bowlers.

In other games, leaders Oak Flats are the only side without a loss in the first three rounds and take on Kiama at Cavalier Park.

Oak Flats were too strong for Shellharbour in round three, while Kiama beat Lake Illawarra in one of their best wins in recent seasons.

Completing round four, Lake Illawarra will be desperate to bounce back after a poor batting effort against Kiama in their home clash against Shellharbour, while improving Albion Park host neighbours The Rail.

Ladder: Oak Flats 52, Lake Illawarra 34, Albion Park 33, Gerringong/Jamberoo 33, Kiama 27, The Rail 23, Shellharbour 21, Warilla 11.
