Michael Stuart, 44, was last seen by family members in Wollongong last Sunday.
Police were contacted about 4.30pm on Tuesday following reports an abandoned vehicle had been located in Mount Murray near Robertson.
The area was searched, but Mr Stuart was not found.
His family and police hold serious concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.
Mr Stuart is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with a large build, brown hair and brown eyes.
