She will push this agenda in her new role as co-chair of the Early Learning and Care Council of Australia (ELACCA).
Ms Hutchins will also continue to highlight the importance of quality early childhood education and care and to actively lobby for improved investment in Australia’s youngest learners.
G8 Education CEO, Gary Carroll is the other new co-chair of Australia’s peak body for large early learning providers.
ELLACA represents not-for-profit and private providers across the nation, supporting more than 2000 preschools, kindergartens, family day care and long day services across Australia.
“We are proud to be appointed co-chairs and look forward to continuing the great work of our predecessors, Bernie Nott, Tom Hardwick and Michael Tizard,” Ms Hutchins and Mr Carroll said.
“The evidence for the value of high quality early learning is strong and getting stronger – young children thrive when they can access multiple days of high quality early learning in the years before school.
“Age appropriate, play based learning is a game changer for young children, their families and the nation.
“The early education sector is a dynamic and growing sector and we look forward to representing the views of our members to government, to the media and the community.”
