Priest arrested in Berkeley over alleged historic assaults in Sydney's west

Police commenced investigations in 2018 after receiving a report of alleged indecent assaults upon a 15-year-old boy at a high school in the Fairfield area in 1993.
On Tuesday, officers attended a home in Berkeley and arrested a 61-year-old man.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault - victim under 16 and aggravated indecency - victim under 16 and under authority.
The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday May 15.
He is currently suspended from the church.
