Hoyts made the announcement via twitter, stating ‘‘Hoyts Warrawong has now recommenced sessions’’.
Westfield was put into lockdown after two armed men were detected inside the Hoyts cinema just after 6am.
Specialist officers scoured the building in search of the gunmen but they could not be found.
It is believed the men may have escaped in a short period of time between when the security guards first spotted the men and police arriving.
Tenants have returned to work and customers have been trickling through the doors since the area was declared safe by police just after midday.
Coco Aang, manager of Coco Jewellery, said she had opened her doors to customers at 1.30pm but business had been slow.
‘‘I’ll just open four hours today,’’ she said.
‘‘Most of the shops are open but there aren’t many customers.
‘‘Very quiet today.’’
