Holding rods instead of reins, a group of festive fishermen braved the cool weather yesterday morning to cast some lines off the Wollongong Harbour breakwall.Decked out in Santa aprons, colourful hats and reindeer antlers, and clearly visible from the shore, the Sydneysiders joked as they reeled in their "big" catches. The group of Japanese students and hairdressers had driven to Wollongong from the inner city, hoping to enjoy a Christmas barbecue and some good weather."The weather's not too good today, but we're still having fun," student Jessica Li said."We came to Wollongong because the beaches seemed really nice and it's so pretty here."We don't usually go fishing on Christmas Day - this is the first time I've been fishing before. But I'm not doing too badly, I caught a fish."Hairdresser Emi Ogawa (pictured with the joker hat) wanted the group to take their festive spirit with them on their travels and decided to buy everyone bright hats and outfits for the day."They looked cute, so I bought them to make the day fun," she said.
