A Berkeley man has been killed while trying to escape gun fire during a terrifying chase at Albion park.

Daniel Merrett, aka Daniel Clulow, was a passenger in a car driven by a female believed to be his sister when he called triple-0 claiming shots were being fired at his vehicle.
Police sources say he stayed on the line during the ordeal as his vehicle tried to outrun the shooter.
Soon after the emergency call for help, the ford territory his was one of three passengers in, crashed into the back of a petrol tanker.
A witness said the car struck at such high speed the truck almost jackknifed.
There were heaps of police with torches walking together in a line scouring the road like they were looking for something.
A strike force has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the 2.20am crash southbound on the princes highway.
The petrol tanker was turning out of creole st at the time of the impact.
Mr Merrett, father of twin girls, died at the scene.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman, was airlifted to St George Hospital. She is now in a stable condition.
Her other two passengers, a man and woman, both aged 25, were rushed to hospital and are now also in a stable condition.
Strike Force Warrane has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Another motorist on her early morning commute to work at 5am saw a heavily police presence.
"There were heaps of police with torches walking together in a line scouring the road like they were looking for something.
"I had no idea there was a crash I thought they must have been looking for evidence for something, it didn't look like a crash scene," she said.
"You could get around the roundabout but then there were Barriers and we were detoured."
As inquires continue, anyone who witnessed the incident or events leading up to it, or anyone with dashcam vision, is urged to contact Lake Illawarra police.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
