Whether it's helping out with excursions, class activities, sporting events or working bees, nothing is too much trouble for Coledale Public School mum Joanne Chilton. Now the mother-of-two has received recognition for all her hard work with a Public School Parent of the Year award from the NSW Department of Education and Training.Mrs Chilton, who was nominated by school principal Susan Bradley, was presented with the award yesterday."I don't do the work for the recognition, I do it because I enjoy it," Mrs Chilton said."I hope what I'm doing is helping the school and my children, but it's nice to know the teachers appreciate it."Every time I go in to help the children, they're so enthusiastic and keen to learn and that's enough reward for me."Ms Bradley said Mrs Chilton had performed various roles at the school in the past five years, and had also been the driving force behind the school's environmental management plan, which has included recycling programs, worm farms, a vegetable garden and native gardens."Mrs Chilton has earned the respect of all members of the school community by her willingness to help others," Ms Bradley said.Coledale Public School P&C president Terry Dunning said Mrs Chilton was highly regarded within the school community."Her knowledge of the day to day running of the school and the relationship that she has with the school community has been invaluable," Mr Dunning said. "She truly deserves this award as recognition for her commitment to the school and the children."
