Murder charge over Pheasants Nest body parts

A 33-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's remains on a rural property at Pheasants Nest this week.Homicide squad detectives attended a home at Epping overnight, and this morning charged the man with one count of murder.He has been refused police bail and will appear in at Ryde Local Court today. Detective Superintendent Geoff Beresford said the Sydney woman has been identified by fingerprints.However the woman's next of kin was yet to be notified of her death.Supt Beresford said the accused man and the woman knew each other. "She's a Sydney woman, she has been missing since the 31st of last month, although she was reported missing on August 3," Supt Beresford said. The woman's remains were found about 2pm on Sunday. Police were called to a rural property at Pheasants Nest, near Picton, after the owner's dog retrieved some remains, believed to be a leg.The search continued on Monday, with assistance from SES volunteers, the Police Rescue Squad and Dog Squad, and more remains, including human tissue, were found in bushland nearby. At 11.35am yesterday, more human remains were found in bushland below the Pheasants Nest Bridge, a few kilometres from where the first remains were foundThey had apparently been dumped from the top of the bridge and were about 30m below the roadway.Strike Force Gledwood was established to investigate the incident and comprises detectives from the State Crime Commands Homicide Squad and the Camden Local Area Command.
