A doctor charged with sexually assaulting two teenage girls has been stood down from his job at Dapto Medical Centre.Dr Mohammed Mofizur Rahman faces two charges of aggravated indecent assault following complaints by the teenagers, aged 17 and 18, about their treatment at the centre early last month.Practice owners said the 42-year-old doctor was stood down as soon as the girls' allegations became known and was no longer treating patients, pending the outcome of the police investigation. The Bangladeshi-trained doctor remains registered with the NSW Medical Board pending the outcome of a board hearing.Detective Chief Inspector Michael McLean declined to detail the nature of the alleged assaults yesterday, but said they related to separate incidents. He said the alleged victims had made formal statements which had resulted in the man being charged.A spokeswoman for Primary Health Care, which owns Dapto Medical Centre, told the Mercury that Dr Rahman had worked at the site as an independent contractor and not as an employee. The spokeswoman confirmed Dr Rahman was no longer seeing patients at the centre."(Dr Rahman) is not working there pending the outcome of the investigation," she said. A spokeswoman for the NSW Medical Board confirmed the registration authority was aware of the charges.Legislation allows the board to hold an "urgent hearing" to determine whether a doctor should be suspended, however this can take weeks. The board declined to comment on Dr Rahman's case.Dr Rahman was arrested and charged after attending Port Kembla Police Station with his solicitor on Tuesday night, and was later bailed to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on April 14.
