Finding a parking space in Wollongong will soon become easier, with a four-storey car park due to open in Wollongong by the end of this month.Located next to Wollongong Railway Station, it will provide 361 free spaces and is one of three free commuter car parks to be provided in the region this year.A car park at Helensburgh station has been expanded by 75 spaces, while Woonona commuters are now using a 41-space car park that opened in June. The State Government has spent $10.7 million on the Gladstone Ave car park and Wollongong MP Noreen Hay says the first cars will be able to drive in within weeks."The construction team are adding the finishing touches to the new car park, with line marking and landscaping activities being completed," she said. The car park will have a range of security and accessibility features including disabled parking, lift access, CCTV surveillance and security lighting.Non-commuters will also be free to use the car park, although it is expected that commuters will take up the bulk of available spaces.
