Kravitz rocking into the Gong

Wollongong is set to be the only regional venue to host rock icon Lenny Kravitz, along with popular ’90s band The Cranberries and Aussie outfit Wolfmother, when they join forces for a nationwide tour next year.Making his first concert appearance Down Under in 18 years, Kravitz is due to hit Aussie shores in March.He will play eight shows across the country, alongside The Cranberries and Wolfmother.They will perform at WIN Entertainment Centre on March 20, after gigs at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on the Australian Grand Prix weekend.Promoter Andrew McManus yesterday said highlights of Kravitz’s Melbourne performance would also be broadcast around the world via the F1 Rocks network, providing international viewers with a glimpse of the shows.Kravitz, a four-time Grammy award winner, has sold more than 35million albums worldwide and will tour the country with his latest album Black and White America, a funk-infused collection filled with the rocker’s signature guitar riffs.Wollongong audiences will also see the return to the stage of Irish chart-toppers The Cranberries after a lengthy hiatus.Fronted by Dolores O’Riordan, the group lit up international charts for more than a decade with classics such as Linger, Dreams and Zombie, and are set to release their new album Roses next year.Tickets go on sale on Monday, November 21 and can be bought from www.ticketek.com.au or by phoning 132 849.
