Waves Towradgi will be the scene of a showdown Sunday night as nine bands battle it out in the concert final of the Mercury Bluescope Youth Band Comp.BraMaJo, Fiend, Ex Curia, Tommy M and the Mastersounds, Blueberry Circuit, Abstract Classic, A Cat Named Kesey, Valorous and Maesarc will all take to the stage, but only one can take out the title. Each of the acts has fought their way to the concert final via gruelling heats as well as voter’s and judge’s choice ballots. But for the band who emerges victorious the road ahead is bright, according to 2010 winners Atticus.Brothers, Adrian (lead vocals, bass guitar), Samuel (guitar, backing vocals) and Tyler James (keyboard), with cousin Harry James (drums) won the first prize of $5000 cash and a $5000 recording package.Samuel said the studio experience had been ‘‘instrumental’’ (pardon the pun).“Winning the band comp has helped us so much. The whole studio experience was one massive learning curve, and it’s been instrumental in our development as a band. It’s one of those things where you can’t help but grow as a result of the experience,’’ he said.Tickets to the concert final are $8 plus booking fee and can be bought at the door.Check out our comprehensive guide to the concert final below.
