I think it's fantastic that events such as the Sydney to Gong
are held to raise money for charity.
However, I was unfortunate to be driving through the northern suburbs when the event was held. Even at the slow speed of 40km/h I almost hit riders five times.
In fact, t
were riding on the opposite side of the road.
At one point I came around a bend to see a marshal and a rider standing in the middle of my lane talking. I had to brake suddenly to avoid hitting them.
Most riders stayed within their lane but hundreds did not. Many of them were riding between the double white lines in the middle of the road.
If I was to drive like this I would be booked.
