* The Future Made in Australia Act would aim to provide taxpayer-funded financial incentives for manufacturing and clean energy initiatives.
* The incentives are designed to boost investment in critical industries in Australia as a means of growth.
* Existing efforts such as the $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund, the Hydrogen Headstart or the Solar Sunshot will be consolidated as part of the act.
* The measures have been likened to the US Inflation Reduction Act, but on a smaller scale.
* The prime minister indicated industries such as hydrogen, green metals, solar power, as well as other renewables would be a key focus of the plan.
* Mr Albanese said government investment would be a catalyst for private sector growth.
